It begins with opening the Bible together as a family—reading it, talking about it, and letting God’s Word shape our hearts. But the reality is that family Bible time can sometimes feel challenging. Little ones wiggle, visual learners need something to look at, and we all benefit from clear explanations—especially when Scripture refers to history or culture we’re unfamiliar with. That’s why I’ve gathered a list of resources that can support your family as you dig deeper into God’s Word together.

My first recommendation is to pick up this book by Danika Cooley. She has done a great job breaking down how to teach your kids, at what age level and gives practical advice to implement right away!

Genesis to Revelation, this book is written for kids to read and understand themes in the Bible, along with deeper applications. They will learn the bigger picture of the Bible and how God weave all the stories together for one big plan.

Let your kids explore what life would have been like during the time of Jesus. See how they dressed, what they ate, where they lived and worked. This large book has a low price and makes a great table book to have on hand.

If you feel lost reading the minor prophets, much less trying to explain them to your kids, you are not alone. Christian Focus Publication has put together 3 of these picture book box sets that walk you through each book.

We have the benefit of looking back, but the people who first heard Jesus speaking in Parables were really confused. It might also be difficult to understand how we are now suppose to apply these lesson to our lives. Lithos Kids has done a great job covering the Parables of Jesus and including summaries for discussion between your and your littles.

My kids read these over and over. written in comic form these books takes your kids through proverbs in silly and fun ways.

The book of Job is a good one, but it’s really long and can get confusing. This picture book is written in poetic form making it fun to read and fun to listen to.

The book of Romans for kids? Yes! This story/devotional will keep your kids entertained while also sharing with them the deep truths of God’s salvation plan.

I’m sure there’s a hundred more I could share but this is more than enough to get you started. Be sure to go check out my other posts about Christian Books for Kids and Family Devotionals.
